Iur Whëk Kez (/jur/ /whɛk/ [random] [arena; stadium]) is a subtropical Town located in Fe̜vmbe̜d Parish, Tuprmjagi Diocese, within the Covenent of Irus.

The name Iur Whëk Kez is derived from the Wood Elvish language, as Iur Whëk Kez was founded by Amdirbarad Shostret, who was culturaly Wood Elven.

Climate

Iur Whëk Kez has a yearly average temperature of 30°C (86°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a blistering 35°C (95°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a warm 26°C (78°F). Iur Whëk Kez receives an average of 81 cm/y (31 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Iur Whëk Kez covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 8940 m (-13618 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Iur Whëk Kez was founded durring the early 11th century, by Amdirbarad Shostret. The establishment of the new community went well, though many minor issues had to be solved as time went on. This was enough to delay construction and push back the formal opening ceramony, leading to some embarisment for Amdirbarad Shostret.

Iur Whëk Kez was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the early 11th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Iur Whëk Kez is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Iur Whëk Kez is buildings are arranged arround a network of premissive gravel streets which form a grid, where each square verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller square has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town posesses a mighty albit amaturly crafted stone wall. It was built using querried stone blocks and posesses all of the standard defencive features, including a few watch towers. While it would last against a siege, the wall's outdated and simplistic construction method percludes the possability of Iur Whëk Kez weathering a full scale bombardment durring a siege. The town's budget focused millitary grade defenses have recently undergone extensive repairs and renovations, such that the repairwork is imeadiently apparent and can be spotted due to the diffring ages of materials. One can't help but wonder what brought the need for those repairs to the town.

Your first impression of Iur Whëk Kez proves to be right on the money. This town is where the rebels chose to settle. Fashion trends are quite simply the opposite of what’s popular in the other nearby communities. THis trend extends everywhere. Things that should be black are white, what would normally be square is organically curved, and what is typically unthinkable for polite society is more than welcome in this public square. Up to the logical limits, of course. There’s no flaying someone alive to eat their skin going on, but the women are dressed a little immodestly, the men are a little more emotional, and the food is all overly complex and terrible.

Civic Infrastructure

Iur Whëk Kez has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Iur Whëk Kez. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Iur Whëk Kez's parks.

Iur Whëk Kez has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Iur Whëk Kez.

Iur Whëk Kez has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Iur Whëk Kez has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Iur Whëk Kez has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Iur Whëk Kez's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Iur Whëk Kez possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. These lights provide nighttime illumination to most city streets.

Iur Whëk Kez has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Iur Whëk Kez's natural decorations nor waterways.

Iur Whëk Kez has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Iur Whëk Kez has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Iur Whëk Kez is home to a University which provides higher education in a variety of fields, and also serves as a research institute for those same fields.

Cultural Notes

Iur Whëk Kez's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known primarily for its use of abstraction and simplicity. Clean lines, right angles, and primary colors characterized this aesthetic and art movement expressed via architecture and paintings. Its design ethos allows only primary colors and non-colors, only squares and rectangles, only straight and horizontal or vertical lines. Vertical and horizontal lines are positioned in layers or planes that do not intersect, thereby allowing each element to exist independently and unobstructed by other elements. These seemingly impossible principals for an architectural style coalesces into structures which most experts find hard to put into words. It is not that their geometry is impossible, but rather the style's attempt at producing works only describable visually was most successful..
